Thomas Olyve and John Louthe make four petitions:1) They complain that Robert Pulton, servant of Thomas Barton, Marshal of the Marshalsea, with his master's maintenance, has several times assaulted them while performing their office and threatened them, so that they do not dare to collect the King's money etc. from him.2) They state that when they were collecting vessels and other things for the King's Christmas, on the Saturday before last Christmas, Thomas Barton threatened them if they dared to take anything from the house of Robert Pulton.3) They state that when, on the Monday after last Pentecost they arrested two men for trespass, Robert Pulton attacked them between 11 and 12 at night, and would have rescued the men if they had not raised the hue and cry.4) They state that Robert Pulton and John Davy, another servant of Thomas Barton, continually threaten them, so that they do not dare to arrest them for any trespass or affray, or to remain in the town or perform their office: and all this is through the maintenance of Thomas Barton.They state that this can be attested by the people of the town, gentlemen and others, and request a remedy.

Tentatively dated to c. 1401, with reference to a mention of Thomas Olyve as Bailiff of Watford in CPR 1399-1401 p.418, dated 17 January 1401. This date would seem to agree with the hand.
