Nature of request
The Abbot and convent of Whitby state that they are greatly impoverished by sterility of their lands, disease of their livestock, and destruction of their church and lands of Crosby by the Scots, and ask the King, for the relief of their house, to write to the Pope to allow them to appropriate the church of Seamer, or to order the Archbishop of York to allow them to do this, so that after the first vacancy they can hold it to their own use.
