[This petition is largely illegible] James de Cosance, Prior of Prittlewell, states that although he has been duly appointed Prior, he is being impleaded on this by William [le Avernaz] in the court of Rome, in disinheritance of the King. He asks the King to order the Chancellor to send writs forbidding William and the judges from meddling with this matter, and from doing anything that could redound to the prejudice of the King or the destruction of the house.
