Nature of request
Letter to Edward III from Simon de Islep, canon of the church of Lincoln and vicar general of Henry, Bishop of Lincoln, stating that certain people have forcibly removed William de Foxton, William de Notyngham, and Nicholas de Byfeld from the church of Oakham, where they had sought sanctuary, and have imprisoned them in Oakham castle, contrary to the liberty and immunity of the church. The Sheriff of Rutland has been asked to return them, but has refused. Simon requests the King's letters to the Sheriff ordering him to return them.
