Description
Petitioners
Joan of Navarre, Queen of England.
Name(s)
Navarre, Queen of England, Joan
Addressees

Nature of request
Joan, Queen of England, states that in the tenth year of his reign Henry V had ordered the Archbishop of Canterbury, the Bishop of Winchester, the Bishop of Durham, and the Treasurer to make full restitution to her of certain goods, chattels, issues, rents, revenues, farms and profits from her dower which had been taken into his hand, but that this could not be done in full because some of these possessions had been assigned to others at farm. She asks that the letters patent for these farms might be repealed, and that she might enjoy her dower in full.
Nature of endorsement
[On face] Let it be sent to the lords.[On dorse] The petition is granted in all points as it desires, provided that all persons who have at farm from the King or from his father, whom God absolve, by their letters patent, any of the castles, manors, lands, tenements, or other possessions and things specified in the petition, granted in this way to the said Queen in dower, who have incurred great expenses in their farms, and wish to take these things again from the same Queen, for the same farm, are to have them, and the Queen is to give them her letters patent in the appropriate form. And those who have any of the said things at farm of the grant or lease of the said Queen are not to be expelled from their farms by reason of this grant, but rather are to enjoy them as reason demands.
