John de Cretyngg states that he sued a writ of account against William Bertelmeu of Chevington, and that process continued until William was put in exigent, but that he then produced the King's protection, although he was never in his service. He asks the King not to continue to grant him his protection if he is not in his service, so that John can sue against him.
