Nature of request
Nicholas de Langeford states that Geoffrey de Trafforde, John le Greynesson, Richard Evesson and John [Tyche], together with other malefactors, entered his manor of Whittington and carried off his goods and chattels, and beat and wounded his servants, namely Ralph le Clerk of Longeford and others; and they continue to retain large numbers of armed men, and to lie in wait for his men to do them ill. He requests the King's commission under his privy seal to one of his sergeants at arms and to Nicholas to [arrest] the malefactors and bring them to Nottingham or Gloucester, to remain there until the King has commanded his will on this.
