The Chancellor and masters of the University of Oxford requests the King's letters to the Cardinal de la Mote to delay the case between the Cardinal and the petitioners until next Michaelmas, because the Bishops of Winchester and Worcester, before whom it is held, are busy on the King's service.
Nature of endorsement
[None]
Places mentioned
Oxford, [Oxfordshire].
People mentioned
Cardinal [Gaillard (Galhard)] de la Mote (de Mota)
[John Stratford], Bishop of Winchester
[Adam Orleton], Bishop of Worcester.
Note
This may be one of the notes enclosed with no.5175 of C 81/187, which is dated 27 January, 6 Edward III (1332), although the phrase 'notes des lettres' does not sound like it: but the request in the petition of a delay in the plea from Easter to Michaelmas would fit with this date. In any case it must date from around this time. Note that these Bishops are translated, to Canterbury and Winchester respectively, in late 1333.
