Nature of request
Nicholas de Pychford of Bridgenorth, merchant, states that he had taken some wool overseas to sell, but that William de Preston, Robert de Stoke, Walter de Kelsterne, John his brother, William de Cotes, Adam Berte, James Keyser, Michael Trewit and others, who had set up a staple at Bruges contrary to the form of the statute made at Northampton, which abolished staples, seized this wool there and would not allow him to sell it or take it anywhere else. He asks the King to send them his writ, to deliver the wool to him, and to summon them before him to answer for their actions.
