Description

King.
Nature of request
Roger de Kynebauton states that he had sued an assize of fresh force against Henry de Braundestone and others concerning a messuage in London, and that because this was delayed a writ was sent to the Sheriffs and Coroner to proceed, but this was answered that the messuage was then taken into the King's hand by a bill of the Exchequer because of debts owed by Henry de Segrave. A writ was obtained to the Sheriffs and Coroner to inquire into Roger's estate and Henry de Segrave's estate in the messuage, and to inform the King, but now the command has come to stay proceedings in this inquisition until Michaelmas, to Roger's disinheritance. He requests a writ to the Sheriffs and Coroner to proceed to hold the inquisition, without proceeding to judgment, and to inform the King of their findings, so that he can do justice and reason.
