The petitioners state that Thomas de Esex, Steward of the Countess of Cornwall in Holderness, has wrongly expelled them from their lands, contrary to the usages observed in the time of the Earls of Aumale and of the kings, as has been found by an inquisition before James de Berkamstede and Robert de Dalengewe, and has put others in their place, who have left the lands uncultivated and let the pastures decay. They request a remedy, so that they might be returned to their previous estate.
