[This petition is damaged.]Nicholas de Welleburn, clerk, states that he was properly instituted into the church of Whitburn, and was in peaceful possession, until an appeal was sued in the court of York against him, in destruction of the King's right, and that during that appeal attempts have been made to eject him by force. He asks that the Dean and chapter of York might be ordered to maintain him in his possession until the case has been heard, and that if anything is attempted against him, that it [might be put right] immediately.
