Nature of request
John Prig of Northampton states that the Mayor and other townspeople of Northampton imprisoned him on the charge of spying on the town council for the King, and of making bread to poison people, although he was never a baker, and beat him and put him in the pillory; and that when he went to Lincoln to complain to the King, they came to his house, beat his wife, and carried off his goods and chattels; and that when his wife raised the hue and cry they told her to complain to the King. He requests a remedy.
