Nature of request
The Abbot and convent of Cluny state that Gilbert Talbot, knight, held the manors of Letcombe Regis, Offord Cluny, Manton and Tixover of them for term of life, with certain conditions for what would happen after his death, but that after his death they have remained in the King's hand. They ask that the manors, and other rents belonging to them in the King's realm, and all arrears of these, might be delivered to them, and the King's letters patent granted on the matter.

The writs for CIPM, vol. XVII nos 1283-1291 are dated 25-26 February 22 Richard II (1399). The petition would seem to date from shortly afterwards.CPR 1391-6 pp.48-49 is dated 29 April 1392. CPR 1396-9 p.58 is dated 13 January 1397.
