Nature of endorsement
[None]
Places mentioned
River Thames.
Note
Tentatively dated on the guard to c. 1307 with reference to CCR 1302-7 p.537 (an order to the Sheriff of Surrey to make proclamation that kilns should in future burn brushwood or charcoal rather than sea coal, as its bad smell has caused complaints, dated 12 June 1307), and to CPR 1301-7 p.549 (a commission to inquire into breaches of this ordinance and to punish offenders, dated 28 June 1307). This would seem to be the issue here, although not enough of the petition survives to be sure, but this may not be the only such ordinance.
