Description

King.
Nature of request
The King's men and tenants of Brompton and Rhiston, in Chirbury hundred in Shropshire, state that Hugh de Audeleye, Keeper of Montgomery, is distraining them to do suit to the court of Halcetor, in the Welsh manor, which they have never done in the past, to their great harm and prejudice, and reducing them to poverty. He has also extorted money from them on this matter. They request that justices from Shropshire might be assigned, including the sheriff of Shropshire, and that the matter might be determined by good and law-worthy men from the three closest hundreds, as Hugh has refused to give them a remedy, despite the King's writ addressed to him.
