Margaret de Gavastoun, Countess of Cornwall, states that some of the bond-tenants of the manor of Burstwick, who are in her keeping, have asked to be governed by the usages customary there, and others to be governed by the common law, and that she does not wish to make a decision without consulting the King. She requests letters to the Treasurer and Barons of the Exchequer to consider the findings of James de Berkhamstede and Robert de Dalyngho, who have inquired into this at her request, and to examine it again if necessary, and to ordain a remedy.
