Prior of Plympton
Nature of request
The Prior of Plympton states that it was recently found by inquest before John de Berewyk and his companions, justices in Eyre in Cornwall, that he holds the church of St Kew in Cornwall and land and rent there by the charter of King Edgar, in exchange for finding two canons for a chantry there, and for hospitalities and other alms; and asks that, as the church is so far from his convent, these services might be performed by a secular vicar and chaplain.
Nature of endorsement
The King grants that the Prior and convent are to find, in place of the two canons, a secular vicar and chaplain, in perpetuity, to celebrate divine service there and to provide hospitalities and alms in the church of St Kew. And the King's charter is to be made on this.
