Description
Petitioners

Name(s)
Jakes, Robert
Addressees

Occupation
Prior of Maiden Bradley
Nature of request
The Prior of Maiden Bradley request the examination of errors in a judgment made against his house in the time of Richard II regarding the church of Kidderminster. [Unfortunately a large part of this petition is missing, and many of the details of the request are missing.]
Nature of endorsement
Memorandum that on 14 November 1 Henry IV a petition containing these details was sent [...] chief justice of King's Bench for execution according to the laws and customs of the realm of England with a writ of privy seal [...] directed.
Places mentioned
Maiden Bradley, [Wiltshire]
Kidderminster, Worcestershire.
People mentioned
Richard II, King of England
Thomas Mall.
Note
The prior was granted permission to appropriate the church in mortmain on 23 November 1399. That grant was made following complaints from the prior and convent and the 'leprous sisters' of Maiden Bradley, these presumably being the present petition and possibly a slightly earlier one from the sisters, perhaps what the memorandum appears to be referring to.
