Date
[c. 1430-c. 1480]
Description
Petitioners
Thomas ....
Name(s)
Thomas
Addressees
King.
Nature of request
This document is damaged and incomplete. The petitioner makes a request for letters to the sheriff of Bristol, seemingly regarding the shipping of saffron without payment of customs. However, many of the details of the petition are now missing, including the surname of the petitioner, and the sense is therefore unclear.
Nature of endorsement
[None]
Places mentioned
Plymouth, [Devon]
Bristol.
People mentioned
Richard Warde, mercer
sheriff of Bristol.
Note
Dated solely by the handwriting to the middle decades of the fifteenth century. A note on the guard states that a Richard Ward was active in Bristol in 1460 (CPR 1452-61, p.650), but this appears unconnected with this complaint.
