A previous grant to him by Richard II, confirmed by the present king, allowed him to take this from the Exchequer.

Note (Additional information about the record)
- Carleton was granted his office of keeper of the wardrobe in the requested terms on 9 January 1410. This also referred to the surrender of Henry IV's confirmation, and that Carleton had lost Richard II's original letters, but although this is not mentioned in this petition, this is almost certainly the resultant grant.
