From the content, format and handwriting of this document, it would appear to be a stray plaint from the Northamptonshire general commission of oyer and terminer (trailbaston) of 1341-2, and almost certainly once formed part of the file of similar plaints now at JUST 1/638/3. The trailbaston was held at Northampton in December 1341 and January 1342 under a commission of 12 November 1341, and from the notes added to that file by C.A.F. Meekings in 1967, it would appear that the date of 'Wednesday' on the dorse refers to one of the attachment dates, the Wednesday after St Lucy (i.e. 19 December 1341).
