SC 8/186/9273
Date
[1415-1416]
Description
Petitioners
John Pynder of Redbourne, yeoman.
Name(s)
Pynder, John
Addressees
King.
Nature of request
John Pynder requests that the chancellor send letters to the justices, confirming that he was in the king's service at the feast of All Saints last past, and for a long time before and after, and that he was present at the siege of Harfleur and the battle of Agincourt.
Nature of endorsement
[None]
Places mentioned
Redbourne, Lincolnshire
Harfleur, [Normandy, France]
Agincourt, [Artois, France].
People mentioned
Thomas Erpingham, steward of the Household.
Note
The reference to the Harfleur and Agincourt campaign suggests that the petitioner is referring to the feast of All Saints 1415, and thus the petition must date to the year after that date. A note on the guard refers to a commission of 1430 into a crime by Pynder, but the petition clearly refers to 'your campaign', and therefore is clearly addressed to Henry V.
