Nature of request
John Pynell, merchant of Portugal, requests that the king intervene in his case regarding goods stolen from him in Shoreham. He states that the goods were taken by Gascon and his accomplices, who claimed that he was a Breton, and sold to various others. He has failed to get restitution, and asks that all involved be summoned before the king. He also offers letters from the King of Portugal in support of his case.

From the various complaints from Pynell enrolled on the patent roll, this petition probably dates to c. 1407. The chancery warrant with which it was enclosed is damaged, and the date is lost.
