John, son of Henry IV, requests that he be granted various castles, manors, lands, appurtenances and reversions formerly held by the Earl of Northumberland, as earlier letters granting these, dated 27 June [1405], were burnt at Berwick. He also asks that the date of the Earl's forfeiture be added to the text.

The original grant was made to John on 27 June 1405, and presumably the petition dates to some point between that date and the death of his father in 1413. Parts of the petition are damaged by water, but the missing place names from the lists can be identified with reference to the original grant.
