The Bishop of St Asaph states that the king's father granted the bishop and chapter an area of moor called Gronants Moor at an annual fee farm of 20 marks, expressly stating that an allowance of 12d an acre would be made for any land lost to the sea. A great part of the land has now been destroyed, and he requests that the relevant allowance be made.

Note
A commission of enquiry into the amount of land lost to the sea, with an order to make the necessary allowances, was issued on 22 June 1380, almost certainly in direct response to this petition. Spridlington was bishop between 1377 and 1382.
