Nature of request
John Squyer requests that the king order the justice of Chester to examine the claims of Altecar to the church of St Mary on the Hill in Chester, from which he has been unjustly ousted. He states that he was properly presented and inducted by the Abbot of Chester, but that Altecar then purchased letters from the king, falsely claiming that the king held the presentment, and ousted Squyer.
