William Barre, proctor of the executors of the Cardinal of Luxembourg.
Name(s)
Barre, William
Addressees
King.
Occupation
proctor of the executors of the Cardinal of Luxembourg
Nature of request
William Barre requests that the executors be discharged of all the sums of money given by the king to the late cardinal, for which they are being required to account, as all such sums were properly spent and accounted for by the cardinal. He also asks that certain sums be released for the performance of the cardinal's will.
Nature of endorsement
[None.]
People mentioned
[Louis de Luxembourg, Archbishop of Rouen], Cardinal, Chancellor of France, Bishop of Ely
Adam Moleyns, Bishop of Chichester, former Keeper of the Privy Seal
John Stanlowe (Stanlow), Treasurer of Normandy
John Throgmorton (Throckmorton)
[Margaret of Anjou], Queen of England.
Note
Louis de Luxembourg died on 18 September 1443. However, the petition clearly dates to some point after the appointment of Adam Moleyns as Bishop of Chichester, the death of Throgmorton, and Henry VI's marriage to Margaret of Anjou, all of which occurred in 1445, but before Moleyns was murdered on 9 January 1450.
