Addressees
King.
Nature of request
The petitioners request that the king summon Thomas Selwyn to appear before him regarding a dispute over certain lands in Selmeston and Firle. They state that these lands were held by Richard Selwyn, and that after his death, they ought to have descended to Agnes and Joan, the daughters and heirs of Nicholas Selwyn, Richard's son, who predeceased his father. However, Thomas Selwyn, the younger brother of Nicholas, has taken the lands, and refuses to produce the deeds and muniments by which they might show their right.

Note
The handwriting would suggest that the petition dates from the late-fifteenth or early-sixteenth century. A Thomas Selwyn was taxed in nearby Friston in 1524, and is probably the man mentioned here.
