Note
This petition is barely legible, but the details can be understood with reference to SC 8/319/E371, a similar petition from Redynges. He was granted a corrody at Revesby Abbey on 24 October 1319, and Revesby was again ordered to admit him on 20 June 1322, after the abbot had refused due to their poverty. Although these circumstances would appear to fit the endorsement here, this petition would seem to request a grant at Quarr Abbey, not Revesby (although the name is indistinct). Similarly, SC 8/319/E371 clearly requests the execution of an earlier grant at Durham Priory, suggesting that Redynges was having considerable trouble securing any aid, and may have been moving regularly. The petition has been dated to the period 1318-25, as the petitioner claims to have served in Scotland for 22 years (Edward I's first campaign took place in 1296), while the mention of Airmyn would probably date it no later than 1325.
