Note
Dated on the guard to c. 1390. Burton was clearly in possession of Over on 9 May 1387, when his tenure was ratified, and on 20 January 1389, when licences for the foundation of a chantry at Over were granted. The petition clearly dates to before 20 September 1392, when Kirketon exchanged Irnham with the parson of Lolworth in Cambridgeshire, but could easily have been compiled much earlier than 1390, and may possibly be connected with the ratification of 1387 (the king may have refused the request). However, given the numerous corrections and additions, this is probably a draft petition, and as such may never have been presented at all.
