Reference
SC 8/181/9033
Date
[1330]
Description
Petitioners
Ralph Bygot (Bygod).
Name(s)
Bygot (Bygod), Ralph
Addressees
King.
Nature of request
Ralph Bygot requests that the king order the justices to come to judgment in his case against Robert de Ferrers, his wife Margaret and John, son of Walter le Poure, regarding the manor of Bugbrooke. He states that FitzWalter failed to appear on the specified day, claiming that he was in the king's service, but this was not true.
Nature of endorsement
Because testimony is before the council, as has been pleaded no several occasions, let this petition be sent before the king, and after the record and process are viewed, he may do right.
Places mentioned
Bukkeby (Bugbrooke), [Northamptonshire].
People mentioned
Robert de Feres (Ferrers)
Margaret [de Feres (Ferrers)], wife of Robert de Ferrers
John [le Poure (Poor)], son of Walter le Poure
Walter le Poure (Poor).
Note
Assigned by Rot. Parl. Vol. I, p.37 to the November parliament of 1330. The order noted in the petition was issued on 4 November 1330. The scribe's rendering of the manor as 'Bukkeby' is clearly an error for 'Bukkebrok', possibly due to confusion with Long Buckby, also in Northamptonshire. The correct form appears on the close roll.
