- The handwriting of this piece, together with the known details of the petitioner's career, would suggest that it dates to the period c.1320-c.1340. However, the reference to the 'Gascon war' (which would seem to be happening at the time of the petition) suggests that this petition probably dates from the time of the war of Saint Sardos (1324-5).
