Description
Petitioners
William Cave and Alice Cave, his wife.
Name(s)
Cave; Cave, William; Alice
Addressees
King.
Nature of request
The petitioners request remedy regarding rents in Kent of £9 18s 8¾d, which, through various grants and re-grants, should belong to Alice by right from her late husband. These have been seized following an inquest held by Reche, which claimed that one of their former holders, Nicholas Brembre, held them on the day of his forfeiture, but the petitioners claim that this was not the case.
Nature of endorsement
[None]

John Reche, escheator of Kent.
Note
Dated on the guard to? 1388, with reference to the forfeiture of Nicholas Brembre. However, John Reche served as escheator of Kent (and Middlesex) between 24 November 1394 and 5 August 1397, and since he is described simply as escheator, rather than 'then escheator' or 'former escehator', the petition presumably dates to that period.
