Description
Petitioners
Piers (Peter, Pey) de Puyane (Poyane), burgess of Bayonne.
Name(s)
de Puyane (Poyane), Piers (Peter, Pey)
Addressees
King.
Nature of request
Piers de Puyane, burgess of Bayonne and former admiral of the king's fleet, makes three requests.1) He seeks remedy and protection in a dispute regarding a collection he was ordered by the king to make when he was mayor of Bayonne. The document is damaged and the precise sense is unclear.2) He requests the payment of the arrears of an annuity of £50 due to him, which has not been paid since the seneschal took the lands into his hands. He also asks for a reassignment of the annuity.3) He requests confirmation of an annuity granted to his son Michael in the bailiwick of Biarritz.1)
Nature of endorsement
The lord of Albret responds that he is willing to answer the charge and do right.2) The seneschal and the constable should take advice from the petitioner, and make assignment of the arrears, and otherwise they should make payment or assignment without excuses or delay.3) Show the letters and they shall be accepted in a reasonable manner.

Note

I, pp.90, 105, 159). These, together with the handwriting of the document, would suggest a date in the region c.1340-c.1360.
