Nature of request
The Prior and Convent of Torksey complain that their house, currently in the king's hands due to the minority of Philip, Lord Darcy, has been oppressed by bad governance and excessive fees, annuities, corrodies and other charges, such that they have scarcely 20 marks income and their work has ceased. They ask that the king grant the keeping of the priory to such people as will remedy this, and pardon the prior and canons from the tenths.
