Name(s)
de Pikeryng (Pickering); de Pikeryng (Pickering), Robert; Maud
Addressees
King.
Nature of request
Robert and Maud de Pikeryng show that, following the death of her first husband, John de Everwyk, Maud married Walter de Osgodeby, and sued for dower from Everwyk's estate, securing 40s of land and rents in Santon. This was enrolled, but since no licence was enrolled, and Everwyk held in chief of the king, the escheator has since seized the property into the king's hands. Following Osgodeby's death, Maud has since married Robert, and they request pardon for Maud's trespass.
Nature of endorsement
Have letters of pardon according to the tenor of the petition.
Places mentioned
Santon, Lincolnshire.
People mentioned
Walter de Osgodeby (Osgodby)
[Edward II], King of England
John de Everwyk (Eboraco, York)
John Walewayn, escheator.
Note
A pardon for this trespass, and to both petitioners for themselves marrying without licence, was issued on 4 February 1332. Presumably the couple also presented another petition requesting pardon for themselves.
