Grendone requests that he be paid for the £20 he spent from his own resources to maintain horses and arms as he was sheriff of Glamorgan and Morgannwg in the time of the earl of Gloucester and continued to serve after his death for the king's profit, holding courts, and attempting to bring the Welsh who had gone to war against the king back to the king's peace.1)

The petition dates to 1315 as an order for the payment of the petitioner was made on 13 March 1315, and it is clear that the petitioner was no longer sheriff and he was replaced on 28 July 1314, and was again appointed on 8 July 1315 (CCR 1313-18, p.162; List of Sheriffs, p.257).
