Description

Occupation
Prior of the Charter House in the Isle of Axholme
Nature of request
The prior requests that he be granted full restoration of the priory of Monks Kirby which was granted to them after it was taken into the late king's hand because it was an alien priory to support the work of the house which will be destroyed otherwise. The priory was subsequently granted to Godimer, a Franciscan, and the Franciscans have lived dissolutely without observance, and following the prior's plea against Godimer the priory of Monk Kirby has been taken into the king's hand. He further requests that a writ of procedendo be commanded in the plea that he has pending, notwithstanding the taking of the priory into the king's hand.
Nature of endorsement
6 May, 4 etc. the council [named] agreed that the chancellor should call to him in Chancery the justices and sergeants of the king the evidences and letters patent mentioned in the petition, and if it seems that a writ de procedendo be grantable in the case then the chancellor should make the writ addressed to the justices of King's Bench to proceed in the plea.
