Note (Additional information about the record)
- The petition is dated in the guard note to?? c. 1293 on the basis of a licence to alienate land in mortmain to the prioress and convent (CPR 1292-1301, p.54). However, this licence need not relate to the petition, and the land concerned is considerably less than that requested in the petition. In addition, the hand appears to be significantly later, so that a speculative date of? 1310-? 1335 has been adopted, and it seems likely that the petition is towards the later end of this range, if not beyond.
