Nature of request
Writ of Richard II to the sheriff of Suffolk, dated 24 February 1390, commanding him to make Horbury come before the king in Chancery in the quindene of Easter to show why his collation to the chapel annexed to the church of Bures should not be revoked.
Nature of endorsement
[On face].By writ of privy seal.[On dorse].1) For the execution of the writ Durward, the steward of the liberty of St Edmund has answered that he has warned Horbury to be before the king within Chancery at a certain day. By Prat, Haksofte, Bolton and Boys.2) At which day Horbury came into Chancery in person, and the prior by his attorney, and Horbury said that the chapel was granted to him by the king, and he could not answer without him, and another day was given to the quindene of Trinity. In the meantime the prior requested a licence to proceed in the plea . . .
