[The petition is badly damaged, and substantial parts are illegible].Carane requests that a commission be sent to officers of the . . . concerning a carrack that was seized and taken to Plymouth and held there, and concerning the goods, and the mariners who are still held there in prison.

[One response struck-through].Let a writ be sent to the mayor and bailiffs of Plymouth to examine the matter without delay and to keep the carrack and all the goods under grave pain and to deliver those of Genoa, and others to keep safely.And let a similar writ be directed to the sheriff of Devon.
