Nature of request
The commons state that many people by misfortune of war or necessity have been forced to make statute merchants whereby execution has been made by favourable executions to the great damage of the debtor both by imprisonment or by favourable livery of their land: although many debtors, their heirs, executors or those to whom the reversion of the land pertains have been prepared to make satisfaction together with costs. They ask that if the debtors, their heirs, executors and those to whom the land will revert are prepared to make satisfaction in this way, but the creditors refuse it, the debtors might be able to re-enter the land and retain it quit of the debt.
Nature of endorsement
Because at the last parliament it was ordained that in such cases writs were to be sent to justices before whom such processes were pending to warn the land tenants to be at a certain day before them to receive the reasonable monies, mises, and costs, and to deliver the land to those who ought to hold it by . . . those . . . to such writs henceforth in similar cases.
