Nature of request
The citizens request a remedy as they have held the city at fee farm by charter of the king's predecessors and by confirmation of the current king, and have paid a fee farm in the Exchequer, and in aid of the payment of the same have held two leets annually of all those residing in the city except those of the archbishop, but now the bishop has withdrawn certain of the residents to his leet of the palace though none of his predecessors were seised of such a leet. The citizens have expended great sums in pursuance of their plea in the matter.
