Note (Additional information about the record)
- The petition is dated to? 1279-? 1280 as the petition is clearly in the reign of Edward I, and makes mention of charters of Henry III, the king's father, and relates to the Yorkshire eyre. Eyres were held in Yorkshire in 1279-80, and in 1293, and the hand, and the noticeable variation from the standard form of petition that emerged towards the end of Edward I's reign suggests that the earlier date is more likely (Crook, Records of the General Eyre, pp.148-50, 173-4).
