Description
Petitioners
Thomas de Nerford.
Name(s)
de Nerford, Thomas
Addressees
King.
Nature of request
Nerford requests that it be ordered by writ to the justices that they proceed in the assize concerning lands and tenements in Shotesham and Watton and elsewhere which are his right and inheritance, and which the Mautravers disseised him of. Nerford brought an assize against them but it was delayed because John Mautravers was condemned in parliament so that Nerford brought an assize against Anneyse Mautravers who has answered that she holds the tenements by assignment of the king and cannot answer without the king, and the justices will not proceed.
Nature of endorsement
It seems to the council that the original writ is not maintainable by law without the name of her husband, for which thing nothing is able to be done.
