Addressees
King and the lords spiritual and temporal assembled in parliament.
Nature of request
The commons complain that good and loyal lieges are being arrested and imprisoned on the accusations and impeachments of malicious persons, living in sanctuaries and other hiding places, and ask the king to ordain that henceforth all people making such accusations should themselves be imprisoned, and not remain in sanctuary, or find sufficient security to avow and prove their accusations, on pain of incurring the same penalty as the persons they accuse would, if they were convicted. And that all impeachments otherwise made, might be considered null and void.

It seems likely that the two copies represent an original and a later resubmission, but it is not entirely clear how the two can be differentiated though the guard notes ascribe SC 8/24/1193 to the Westminster parliament and SC 8/175/8727 to the Leicester parliament. The petition is ascribed a date here of 1425-1426.
Note
This petition is enrolled on the rolls for the parliaments held at Westminster in April 1425, and at Leicester in February 1426 (Rot. Parl. vol. IV, p.291a; p.305b (no.111).
