[The petition is badly damaged and in parts totally illegible].The dean and chapter request that the council be commanded to . . . as they were accustomed at all times . . . to take from the prior and convent until the possessions were . . .
Nature of endorsement
Let a commission be made of certain people to enquire upon the things contained in the petition and if the priory is in the hand of the king, then when the inquisition is returned and it finds what the petition supposes, then let right be done. If the priory be in another's hand such as a farmer, they should sue at the common law.
