Nature of request
Because the countess of Arundel was granted lands, rents and farms in Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire to sustain her and her children, and these were subsequently granted to the Lady Despenser as part of her heritage, it is agreed by the king and council that she be granted money from the farm of the city of London, and from Surrey and Sussex by the hands of the sheriffs until the king ordains otherwise for her sustenance, and she should have suitable letters commanding the respective sheriffs to deliver the sums.
