Description
Petitioners
Enguerrand (Ingram) de Coucy, Lord of Guines (Gynes).
Name(s)
de Coucy, Lord of Guines (Gynes), Enguerrand (Ingram)
Note
The petitioner is almost certainly Ingram de Coucy, Lord of Guines, who came to England as a hostage for John, King of France (captured at Poitiers in 1356), and later married Isabella, daughter of Edward III. It therefore seems likely that the petition dates to his time as a hostage, and certainly to before he was created Duke of Bedford in 1366. The handwriting would seem to fit such a date.
